Saving...
Tues 7. The weather is cold, after waiting upon me in fine style I bade Russel's goodbye, and hastened to my school, where I was soon actively engaged in my accustomed duties. In the evening I visited [Romig's?] and finally returned to Ady's satisfied to enter the family circle of my second home. Wed. 8. Elery Pace called for me this evening with his team, and took us to Chamber's where we had an admirable party, every thing was arranged in the finest style, we returned well satisfied about two o'clock A.M. Thursday. Thurs. 9. I felt rather sleepy today, but notwithstanding this, I went to a spelling school, conducted by Mr. Macalroy at the "Slone School-house" had some very good spelling here. Rode home with Husted. Fri. 10. Had rhetorical exercises, my pupils did very well, had parents with me for the first time who seemed well-pleased with our performance. Had a spelling school today, or to night rather, had a pretty good one. Mr. Winnemore, who is a great Deist &co. paid us a visit, and seems to be very loquacious, he slept with me tonight, he was one of the first Illinois volunteers. His ideas seem to be a strange conglomeration of doctrines. It is pretty cold.
