Saving...
Sun. 9 Attended church this morning and listing to a feeling discourse, by Rev. Harris.. Rode home with Russell's, where I spent a few hours pleasantly, the old gentleman the took his team and conveyed one to Ady's. Mon. 10 Made out my school reports. Attended the meeting of the Township, where nothing of great impotence was transacted. Mr. Hoffman and I went to my boarding place and took dinner, but staid rather too long, and came too late to the school house to have our orders for our money made out, so we were compelled to visit the sec. & pres. at their homes, we had a grand time getting there however. I was very much surprised and equally grieved to learn of the decease of Mrs. Longenecker whom I saw in good health yesterday, she died of a stroke of apoplexy, she leaves a numerous family, she was an exemplary woman, much admired for her benevolent disposition. Tues. 11. Went to Klepfer's, where Mrs. Longenecker died, she looked very natural, as if she had fallen to sleep. This woman died very suddenly. There were 17 teams of the neighbors that followed her corpse to its final resting place on the other side of Muscatine. Requiescat en pace. Rode home with Mr. Pace. I made arrangements with Messrs. C.G. Hayes and [Brother?], who agreed to take me in with them as a law student.
