1862-03-20 -- 1862-03-26

Thurs. 20 I think I feel a little better today. Was able to be up a little while. I am using warm baths which seem to help me.
Fri. 21. Today finds me better than yesterday and I now entertain some hopes of a speedy recovery, wrote several letters to my friends.
Sat. 22. My brother went to the P.6. brought a few papers, which have very little news in them. I do not feel quite so well today.
Sun.23 My parents and two of my brothers went out visiting, I was left at home in company with my youngest brother. It seems to me that I am getting worse.
Mon. 24. Father and two of my brothers go into the timber daily and make cord wood for the German Colony, for which they are paid 50 cents[illegible] cord. Mother and Willie went to the colony and bought things for me.
Tues. 25 I have concluded that my disease is not diphtheria but a [gastrive?] or [illegible] fever. I feel very weak, have no appetite.
Wed. 26 Here I must lie in idleness, spending my time on the sick couch instead of being at some employment, redeeming my home in usefulness. I felt very bad.
