Saving...
Sun.20. Went to the Catholic Church this morning to witness their "Hocus Pocus", I was very much astonished with their performances, and left completely dissatisfied with the entire ceremony; this is a grand day with the Catholics, the Church was crowded, and beautifully decorated. Took dinner with Messrs Hayes, staid with them till evening when I heard Rev. Robbins the Congregational minister preach. Returned to my room satisfied. Mon.21. Commended another week in my study I am not in that state of perfect health in which I desire to be, this deters me somewhat from my studies. The weather is doing tolerably well, but the river is constantly rising. Tues.22. With the assistance of Albert Sibley, I built a lounge, and placed in my room near the office, I sleep on it. I have a very neat little room. A few buffalo robes and quilts make up my entire bedding. Wed.23 Our arms are completely victorious everywhere the enemy is gradually yielding, but still they are determined to protract this struggle on long as they possibly can, in order to bring the utmost ruin upon the entire country. Too much noble blood has already been spilt.
