Saving...
Sun 22. I heard Rev. Mr. Chamberlain preach an excellent sermon at the Presbyterian church, this morning. I also heard him at the [same?] place with [Mrs?] C.A Barrows in the evening. I was appointed to address the Sabbath schools on the 2nd. of next month, and am [illegible] preparing my address/ I am afraid I shall fail to do justice to the subject. May God assist me. Mon. 23. The weather has an unfavorable effect [illegible] me it is too warm for my mental operations therefore I [progress] slowly. Tues 24. I am working on my [S.S?] address for the 2nd of next moth. News reached us that [Mr. Clellan?] is preparing [finely] before [Rev. Chamberlain?] Wednes 25. Last week we sold Mr. Ady;s farm for 3500$, and when the man came to late [it?] Ady looked out and raised [$?] 500 on the price now Misters [C. G. Hoages?] + [illegible] demand their commission of 2 1/2 of which Ady refuses to pay it. I am afraid we will have a law suit about it, I liked to persuade them to Compromise. Thurs. 26 I have neglected my journal for some time and now it appears very stale since I will have to write it from memory for weeks past. Fri. 27 I frequently take a bath in the river [which done] me a great deal of good. Nothing of importance from [our army?]. Some of our soldiers [rejoined?] the army.
