Saving...
Sun. 19 I was not aware of this being Sunday until I entered the City, where I found all places of business closed and everything assumed the quietness of a religious place. After the rain of last night, the atmosphere was pure, and the streets free from dust making it very pleasant to the promenading pedestrian. Capt. Flanagan arrived with the other two Companies from island No 10. I showed him around for a few hours, and then went on board the boat, which left port after dark; the evening was glorious and I enjoyed it very much with my friends looking at the diversified objects that presented themselves to our anxious sight, the starry galaxy of heaven, shone in all its splendor, and to an admirer of nature it was indeed an inspiring and elevating spectacle.
