Dear Dad + Mom: Dont have access to a telegraph station but hope this reaches you soon. Got in last night at a quarter to twelve, midnight being the dead line thats playing it plenty close isn't it? We wired from El Paso to the C.O. telling him our train was running behind schedule it was over five hours late. [Mel?] Hays + a couple more fellows at Kansas City made good connections from Carroll. Enjoyed seeing Grandma + Uncle Ralph. we pulled in about five and Aunt K. had us for supper + was nice. she had Grandma down too. we visited until about 10 and then went on to Uncle [Raymis?] of course they were in bed but heard us come in and got up we visited a little and went to bed. [illegible] Aunt Ethel fed me well, ham chicken + noodles = straw berry shortcake. I should have gained While I was home with your cooking + boy did everything taste good.
