Saving...
Feb. 3, 1943 Tucson, Ariz. Dear Dad & Mom: Another warm day had to shed my wool sweat shirt after dinner. I am taking a twenty four hour pass this afternoon to try and get some letters written and a few clothes washed. This is my first twenty four since before I left Pueblo. I often plan to take one but we would get busy and somehow I never get it. One of our planes had a little mishap in flight yesterday a propellor flew off but no one was hurt and the plane landed safely. The bolts holding it on sheared off and let the nose section pull right out. It will take a couple of days to fix it, but we wont have to do the work as it was forced down over in New Mexico. Couldn't get a bucket this afternoon to wash my things in but will try again a little later. My coveralls are that dirty I dont believe they ever will come out clean. Ill get on them with a G.I brush tho and they will look better Came in late for dinner and the cooks fried me a couple of steaks that were delicious They were tenderloins which the cooks usually save for themselves but they had a generous streak today I reckon.
