March 25, 1943 Tucson, Arizona Dear Dad + Mom: Again I am C.Q. shouldn't have had it until tomorrow but the fellow on today had a dental appointment so 2 got it from 2 P.M on This suited me okay as I only have it 16 hours in place of 24. I have the jeep to make any long distance journeys in too as I'm lucky. It isn't so tough here as the gulch was, the barracks are so much closer. Am having an awful time getting this written with the issuing of [illegible] and other [interrogations?]. Have been forty nine minutes on this so far and you see I haven't got very far. Had a letter from you and one from Grandmother today but have scarcely had time to read either one, just skimmed them [threw?] Tried to buy a coca-cola a few minutes ago and there isn't a [illegible] on the field. For a long time we could buy [illegible], gum and candy + ice cream anytime but the last few months there are many times we don't get things like [illegible]. Doesn't bother me much, I now do very well without them I'm sure. We are going to turn in our heavy sheepskin clothiers before long. I'm glad of that as they are really
