March 27, 1943 Tucson, Arizona Dear Dad and Mom: Well Ive played my game of pinnochle for the evening, talked horse for awhile with my friend "Snuffy Smith" Greenlee and now I'll try and write a bit altho there is no news or nothing to write about. Got another new pair of shoes and a pair of sox from salvage today so Im pretty well fixed. Two new pairs of shoes within a week fixes me up pretty good. These are surely heavy. they are resoled before you wear them soles a half inch thick. One of my buddies is having an awful time tonight someone wired his blankets together and he cant get into it. They really took a lot of pains with the wiring because he cant get in. I think you must have done a lot for the Red Cross it seems you go over to the hospital regularly and make bandages and comforters. Hope they put them to good use and I guess they do something like.
