Saving...
[unguentine?] if promptly applied. Wouldn't have told you this except I'm short on news. Have the Lucky Strike hit parade on again tonight, one of my favorite programs. I've been lucky ever since I've been in the army someone close by has had a radio and I don't have to worry about moving it. Enjoy the news and a few programs but don't like them going all the time. Have quite a nice dayroom just a couple of barracks away but so far I haven't found time to go over, also its usually crowded and if I write I do it sitting on my footlocker with the bed for a desk. See by the Union the R.E.A has been granted permission to finish the lines they started. Will that 100 miles include my place, perhaps. I'll be home on furlough before it all goes thru. I expect I'd better hook on to it because there is nothing more convenient than electricity. Wonder if there is anyone available to do the work and if one can get the necessary wire and fixtures. That Nara Tisdale ruining a pan of cookies for you, if Mrs. Duke had just called in addition to your other visitors the whole batch would have been ruined wouldn't they? Your letters get thru here in two days leave there 10 A.M. and I get them at noon mail call. How long does it take going that way? They should get on the Union Pacific and have a straight [shoot?] clear to Cedar Rapids, shouldn't take any longer, can't understand why they kind of bunch up. I'm run down. Love, Johnny.
