Saving...
May 11, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad + Mom: Had a visiting General on the field today so we really had to be on our toes. He inspected barracks, footlockers, mess halls, supplies orderly room, engineering, operations, hangar condition of ramp etc. He really put in a busy day, dont suppose he liked his job any better than we liked to have him. Guess most everything suited him. A bunch of planes took off this morning for California and from there about 500 miles out in the Pacific where a mock battle is to be staged with a bunch of fighter planes. This is part of the third phase training and I suppose does the new pilots lots of good. Worked until midnight last night with our inspection, it came out pretty well, [group?] didnt find much to write us up about. It was a 200 hour inspection which includes a spark plug change. Had good luck however didnt break any off. Had to change a starter and couple of burned out meshing solenoids which work the starters. It has been cold again today dont see why it cant warm up, froze ice a half inch or more thick in some puddles from our last rain
