at 7. oclock P.m. laid to for the night about 1 mile above town on the miss side, remained at the landing until 10 Am the 8th Sept was reliveved of our passengers & horses by the steamer Post. Barg to enable us to cress the sand bar at Helena, the weather is hot & the river water warm, the miss side opposite Helena thickly covered with willow timber, tall straight sapplings, from 3 to 5 inches in diameter. left Helena at 1 oclock Pm. Helena is 90 miles below Mempahs, passed Napoleon at 9 Pm. 110 miles below Helena, boat run all night delated some in crossing sand bars wednesday morning clear & hot. passed Lake Providence at 11 Am 125 miles below Napoleon, Island P. 96 96
