96 Regeneration We should not expect this regeneration in all cases, in sudden & violent religious experience, or divinely glorious manifestations, nor exact it as a test of conversion; it is not in all cases; such a change, that before, the nature was so grossly corrupt; & after so holy; But it is a growth, a planting in the very bosom of the corruption of the old nature, a new seed, the germ of the spiritual life, which grows, becomes stronger & stronger, till it casts off the old corruption, & in its new life is glorified, and complete;
