101 Ingratitude, of vices first; infamous; & most accursed; is ingratitude. When manifested to an earthly parent, how base, But baser still, is ingratitude to God who has given us life, with all its comforts, health, the vigor of youth parents, kind friends, & all the blessings we enjoy here; & has given us Jesus to provide for our happiness here-after; how ungrateful that we do not thank him; & live in entire neglect of him; Respect poverty, because Christ respected it, Respect riches, because they furnish the means of relieving the distressed. the sacred scriptures are not so much adapted to the head as to the heart of man they are intelligible only to those who have their hearts right; To others they are obscure & uninteresting
