106 Worthy Sentiment A noble young woman said, I never see a common soldier without feeling the profoundest respect; who is more worthy of honor & respect than the common soldier, what were his incentives? [whteer?] his remuneration, for sacrificing, his nearest, dearest, & best earthly interest, & comforts? It is pure love of country worthy patriotism, no class of union defenders have made such noble sacrifices. In all we do let us do our utmost to make it redound to the honor & glory of God, & the good & happiness of our fellows But if any provide not for his own, & specially for those of his own house, he that denied the faith, & is worse than an infidel, I Tim. 5 Chapt. 8 verse. The heart of man is a strange enigma; even when most degraded, it needs something to love.
