Saving...
United States Army July 5, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom & Grandma: Had a grand dinner last night at my friends. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, asparagus, home made pan rolls (oh boy) a mixed fruit salad, celery, sliced tomatoes and strawberries. Very pleasant morning too just sat around on the yard and visited, they have a real cute little girl about six lively as can be. Haven't been too busy today. Plane flew pretty well, played horseshoe this afternoon without much success. Lost three games out of four but it was fun anyhow and thats what we played for. Tomorrow night I think I shall go down town to the soft ball game. Must go back out on the line pretty soon as we have a 25 hr. inspection tonight. It only takes a couple of hours to do it. Grease the landing gear, check the batteries, drain the oil sumps and clean the [air?] screens and give her a general looking over. Tomorrow is the day we must wear our gas masks and I hate the clumsy thing around my neck
