Oct 6, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom & Grandma: This night [dirty?] gets me down just didnt have time to write for a couple of days. Im off now however so will try and do better. Am writing this during the dinner hour out in the hangar. Planes havent come in yet from their morning missions so things are kind of quiet. There are two flight chiefs on duty days also which makes it easier. Went to the show on the base last night, was rather funny a musical comedy which I usually dont like so well. Washed out some clothes after that so it was quite late when I got to bed. Washed out my football jersey which is bright red I used luke warm water and it didnt fade or run. Must try and find some sweat sox at the P.X to wear with my football shoes. We have [an?] are going to have a [illegible] squadron on this base soon. Have several P. 39s here now, it is certainly a contrast to see them after being used to the B-24's so long. They are certainly quick little planes but they have new ones that are even faster. They moved out quite a good sized [cadre?] from this field yesterday dont know where they were going or anything about it. We didnt have any mechanics, but did have a welder, sheet metal man, parachute
