ARMY AIR BASE POCATELLO, IDAHO Oct. 24, 1943 Pocatello, Idaho Dear Dad, Mom & Grandma: This has been a good fall day but still cool. Hasnt rained or snowed all day which is a welcome relief. Think maybe it was just a nasty spell and will get some good weather yet. Noticed down town today that practically all the leaves were off the trees, however they are mostly cottonwoods, elms and willows which dont hold them too well. Our poor little zinnia is definitely gone, just a brown seared stalk with a couple of droopy heads on it scarcely resembles a posie. Played a practice game this afternoon divided up our second & first string teams and played each other. My team won 6 - 0 but it was a dull unexciting game, no one put out too much nor cared who won. I didnt get banged up much, lost a little hide on one cheek and split a lip slightly. Im tired tonight however. Should have washed this afternoon but the engineering officer said to go ahead and play. Im
