Chicago Ill. 1917 June 23, 19,17 Dear Mother I red your letter "[illegible]" you go over to see mayme, I support "[illegible]" "[illegible]", did she like the lunch Ill bet she did. I am on gard duty for 24 hrs. it is about 6 bells now and I go on at 7 bells. We had a pretty good supper to night, we had liver, "[illegible]", potatoes, beans bread pudding, tea bread & butter and if you didn't get enough the first time you could go back and get morel We have a poor German here, you remember I told you about him, they are sure giving him the deavel, I feel sorry for him He was a little late to night and he sure got it. I think we leave tomorrow dont know where we are going. They wont tell us it may be some place in u.s.a. but I doubt it. If we go to France now dont worry because well be safe, there going to send trailers are around us well mother there getting ready to go out so will finish when I come back
