Chicago Ill July 11 1917 Dear Mother: I have been away since 11 am I was out to the e.t.m w shops to sail a flag raising, after the flag was raised we went to dinner with McQuaid and several other e.t.m.w men, we sure had some feed, I meet Harland Tracy out there I am going out to see him, maby you think there wasnt some crowed out there and talk about cheer us they sure did. It sure made me feel good that I was a soldier. We take a hike tomorrow some says we go to the depot
