Saving...
Wednesday - 7th Kelly Field, Texas. Hiya Dave: Rec'd your latest issue of "Scuttlebutt" in the mail Monday Morning, and want you to know I enjoyed it to no end. Just like getting a letter from all the fellows you write about in "Scuttlebutt". There are plenty of of Iowa boys down here but as yet, I have failed to meet anyone from Washington. Don Pauls Jr. is here someplace but this field is so large I don't know where to find him. Another warm day in Texas - as usual. And it stays warm until about eight in the evening down here. Plenty of rain and wind here - but I guess Iowa has had her share of rain this year also - hey? Glad to know the crops are coming along in such good shape. I have a new job - in a new out-fit. The out-fit is the 8th Engine Overhaul Sq; and the job is in the mail department. When I saw new job - I mean new as far as the army is concerned, as I'm an old letter thrower at heart in civilian life - as you know. I'll go you one better on the lawn-trading business. I wouldn't trade the grass in our Central Park - for the whole state of Texas and if you have ever been in Texas, I'm sure you will agree. For my money - it stinks. So long for this time Dave - and keep up the good work. Evening astonisher still coming then on schedule (even in Texas) - thanks to a good postal department in Washington, Iowa. Thanks again for your latest issue of "Scuttlebut" A True Iowan Friend, Don Minicke
