Pierson 2-28 (Censor's Stamp) To Mr. Dave Elder Washington, Iowa From T/5 F. Mitchell (37251363) TR. 8-102 Cav. Rcn. Sq. "Mecz" AP.O. 230 c/o/ P.M. N.Y.C.N.Y. June 18, 1944 Dear Dave, Got a copy of the paper yesterday and I was sure glad to get it. I am in France and we have been engaged in battle for some time now. The first three days we got no sleep at all but are getting plenty now. You can't imaging what it is like with all the noise at times unless you really see it. We had a little trouble with snipers only when we landed which wasn't so bad. I am getting plenty to eat and feeling pretty well. Have not been able to take a bath now for about fourteen days, so we have to take a bird bath. ho. ho. Well things are shaping up pretty well and I think by the end of the year it will be pretty near over. At least I hope so as we are all ready to come back home. There isn't much more I can tell you but lots I would like to say. But you know the army. Yours Truly, Forrest V-Mail
