Somewhere in England Friday June 29th [1944] [Dear?] Dave, Received your inspiring letter a few days ago, and was really glad to hear from you. News from home, no matter how [irreverent?] it may seem, is a contributing factor to the morale of every G.I. in all theatres of operations. I shall look forward to the future issues of your inspiration with endowed enthusiasm. There really isn't much I can write on every day life in the E.T.O., sorry to say, but you can rest assured that our time is well occupied. I spent an inspiring week end in London quite some time ago, I say inspiring because it would be a remote, desolate, habitat of worldly existence to the majority of Americans. It was very interesting however, from a [historeal?] standpoint, looking back at all of the history, and people concerned within, that [listed?] in an almost pre- historic era of despotism long since ceased from existence
