From a Yank in England July 14 [1944] Dear Dave, This is my first letter to you since Eddie Edmonson and I wrote one -- did you ever get that one? That was just the night before he went down -- we had been playing ping pong and chickens and casino most of the evening. Well these things happen in war and we have to take them in our stride. I'm still flying combat now and then over here in our good old Fortresses. We made a [run?] over the invasion front the other day -- boy I've never seen so many ships in my life!
