helping the boys down there. I've received three issues of the Scuttlebutt -- keep 'em coming. There just the thing for us fellows so we can get the news from home. Do you remember Gilroy, the highway patrolman back in 1941 and 1942? He is a [illegible] and MP here on this base -- I see him quite often. The country around here is beautiful -- a lot like home except that there aren't any fields of tall waving corn. I asked one of my farmer friends near here if he grew any corn and he said yes. Then I happened to think that they call all small grain "corn" and that our corn is called "maize." I've made a couple trips to London and made all the usual rounds. You know -- the famous sights and buildings etc. I like
