Italy July 17, 1944 Dear Dave, I have been in Italy a little more than three weeks. So far things are going ok. I left my Thunderbolt behind when I crossed the Atlantic and am now flying the P-51 Mustang. Most of our work is long range escort. I have had a couple of good looks of the snow covered Alps. I recently made a visit to Foggia. It is like most Italian towns I have seen; dirty, crowded, etc.
