Fort Ord, Calif. 18 April 44 Dear Dave, Received the two copies of your news letter, they were bothe interesting and also news. I really enjoyed my visit in Washington. Things have changed a lot in the last 3 years, But there are certain things about Washington that never will change. Received 4 journals yesterday, when I finished reading them & a few letters it was bed time, but who could think of a better way of spending an evening? You seem to be having your shave of rain. We haven't had any rain, but a lot of wind, which in my case is much worse, makes the ocean pretty rough & we get wet anyway, and usually sick along with it. I am only about 50 miles from Ed Brown, Hope I can find time to pay him a visit before we leave. Enjoyed your article about Bob McFarlane & his trip to [Muscatine?], Glad he didn't let the Washington boy's down, Wonder how long he would last at Las Vegas? Here at Ord we have a nice officers club, everything you can think of available. In addition
