Saving...
29 Apr 1944 My dear Dave, Thanks so much for the letter of April 21 which came yesterday. I really enjoy them because they give me the news of other people I want to know about. I didn't know that Bill Hammer was in the army and I didn't know Gene Thomas was in the air corps. Someone said they saw Gene in London not so long ago. I was shocked to learn of Clay Babcock's death. He was a good joe and he will be missed at home. Has Bill Shannon, Dan B. Bob Arthur and the rest left for the army yet? If so where did they go? I am still very busy and hard at my work. I thought that I worked long hours in the States but I didn't know what work was there. Keep sending me the news. My love to Mable and your Mother and my regards to you, Sincerely [Illegible} Lt. Col W. G. Eldridge
