Saving...
I have just about received all I'm expecting. It takes a package at least a month & a half and letters anywhere from nine days to months or year. Beer - now there's a nice sounding word - but I haven't had any since about a month after I arrived here. I hope the next place I go to has some place a fellow can buy a little something or other. There are souvenirs here but nothing I couldn't get betting in the States for less money. So as you can see money doesn't amount to very much here. The fellows are all salting quite a bit away that have been out here any length of time. This is one place in the world where a fellow doesn't pay any income tax on what he earns here. Yea, I know, skepticism but it happens to be so. Unfortunately there were very few musicians or good vocalists in this bunch. I hope its much better in my next place. We have the instruments thanks to the Welfare Committee, the Chaplain, or someone. I was director of the Choir for a while until all the voices went on leave so I abandoned that. Now I could really enjoy myself if we had a good choir, glee club or musical outfit of some sort. Donald R. Boyer
