Saving...
Monday 14th (Aug. 14, 1944) Hiya Dave: Just a few lines Dave, to let you know I received another copy of "Scuttlebutt" in today's mail. Right on schedule and plenty welcome I can assure you. Sorry to hear about Maj. Parris and sure share your wish that he is also a prisoner of War. Had often wondered about postage for "Scuttlebutt" and sure think those that contributed toward that goal deserve a rousing hand. Little do they realize how much we in the service, enjoy our little visit with you each week. Still plenty warm in Texas Dave but guess we will survive it some how. Jenne is still here with me and boy was she a welcome site in this desolate state of Texas. She's a wonderful morale builder and I don't mean maybe. No news of importance to pass on to you - still in the mail business and one day is about the same as the next. Sounds like things are about the same in Washington in spite of the war. Perhaps some of us will be home to stay before too long now. At least the war news sure sounds encouraging and you never can tell what might happen next. Give my regards to your wife - Bill Shannon & all the rest of your gang at home. Keep up the good work Dave because I'm sure everyone appreciates your work as much as I do and that's plenty. No doubt, some of them can't find time to write & thank you, but I can and that's exactly what I'm doing. Bye for this time Dave. As Ever (Pvt) Don Minick
