USS Essex Oct 19-1944 Dear Dave: This past week received the first copy of "Scuttlebutt" to come into my hands and enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks very much for Including my name on your mailing list and shall look forward to future editions. Am just finishing my seventh month as surgeon on this carrier and needless to say its been an experience that I'll will not soon forget. Naturally I can say nothing about our activities but one only has to look at a map of the Pacific area to see that real progress is being made. Keep up the good work. I'm sure you may sometimes not fully appreciate just how much pleasure such a news letter as yours gives many people scattered over the face of the globe. Sincerely yours [?] WM [?]
