To: Mr. Dave Elder Washington, Iowa From Sgt. Milo W Steele Jr. 3rd Band Section Div. Hg & ? 3rd Marine Div. EMF % Fleet P.O. San Francisco Calif. Oct. 17, 1944 Hi Dave, Another Drip of the Scuttlbutt arrived Today. The Pony Express from Washington to West Coast is really getting better. Keep the ole nag in good shape & get The Scuttlbutt out here. So your chickens are doing fine. I wished the He-- that you had a couple of ole roosters we have in camp here. They are strickly state side. Just like the people there. They never get to going till about 11:00 in evening & the darn things crow all nite. We'd both be happy. I'd get a heck of a lot more sleep & you'd have a heck of a lot more chickens in due time. I think they're pedigreed because when you try & catch the darn things the get in the highest darn tree they can find. I think you are using to much pressure on your hens. Try the non pressure system & you'll have higher egg production. Band is going fine & we're doing a plenty of playing. I enjoy it a lot. Thursday I expect to see Francis Glider, who is from home. He is in my ole Co. I have Dick Youngs address & am going to look him up soon. "Bull" Steele
