The Palace Hotel San Francisco, 19 Oct. 23 1944 Mr. Dave Elder Washington Iowa Dear Dave: After eating the sand on the great Mojave Desert for allmost two years, while stationed at Muroc Army Air Field, I have been transferred and am now on my way to Santa Rosa Army Air Field. It is a smaller Field just sixty miles north of San Francisco. Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Shepherd (Joan Brown) remained at Muroc until I get located. Change my address on the Scuttle-but and Evening Journal to Major Oral J Brown 0267497 Hqs. Santa Rosa A.A.F. Santa Rosa, Calif. Thanks. I sure enjoy the home town papers and you people are doing a swell job there at home. I am a republican now too. Jay Brown
