October 26, '44 Dear Dave; We've been receiving the "Scuttlebutt" regularly and really enjoy hearing all the news from the fellows in service, about Washington and your chickens even if they are moulting! Things are about the same with me. Nelle's brother, Orin Wallace, Jr., has been up from San Francisco to see us several times. He would like to be put on the mailing list for Scuttlebutt, address as follows: Orin A. Wallace, Jr. S 1/c Armed Guard Duty c/o Fleet Post Master San Francisco, Calif. Can't imagine it being chilly back there, when its so warm out here. In fact in the afternoons it gets very hot. We are sending you a unit of K Rations not that I'd like a dinner at the North Side - not much. We hope you're solicitation will keep you in food for the winter. We tried some and they aren't to bad, but afraid after consuming them daily for awhile would lose my appetite like most G.I.'s. If there is a chocolate bar in the unit we are sending, eat it very
