Oct 28, 1944 Dear Dave - I have some time so I thought I'd send you a little note. We're somewhere on the Atlantic but heaven knows where. The sun comes up and goes down and then the moon takes its turn; but the scenery is always the same -- water and more water as far as you can see. We left Camp Patrick Henry [censored] which is [censored] and have been on the water continually since then. It is plenty warm down here and we get from 2 to a dozen short sprinkles of rain every day. Most of us fellows bring our blankets up on deck at nite and sleep up here. The only thing that runs us back down stairs is rain or water coming over the railing in excessive quantities. The other day a guy put his handkerchief on a fish hook and let them out on a piece of window cord. He had them out about an hour and caught a 40 lb. kingfish. Since then there has been 3 lines out but no fish have been caught. The food is swell considering that we are on a boat. We have chicken and ice-cream sometimes but we have cold cuts and cheese more often. I seen a picture of Don Radda's corn in a New York paper just about 2 weeks or so ago. It was taken at the campaign party down at the station that was for Bricker. I could recognize a few people in the picture. Well till later So long Charles
