[Cpl] Glenn E. Mace United States Army Air Forces Somewhere in England November 12, 1944 Hi Dave -- Well, here I am in England, and I haven't been warm since I hit these shores. It is very damp and chilly all the time. When you ask a Limey about summer he usually replies that he thinks it came on a Wednesday last year. I have been assigned to the 68th Squadron of the 49th Group. We have been told this is the best group and the best squadron in all England. Confidentially I have found that the new crews in other squadrons have been told that theirs is the best so I don't know just who is right. I found out one thing on the trip over here. It is a good thing I didn't pick the navy for I am not too good a sailor. I won't admit that I was seasick but my meal ticket wasn't punched for five meals straight. So far I haven't seen anyone I know, but I haven't been able to get off the base yet.
