Saving...
Wednesday Night Nov. 22, 1944 Dear Dave: Try to dash you off a few lines tonight if I have time. I happen to be at the Service Club and it is almost closing time. I've done some more traveling and am due for yet more. Moved down here to Camp Callan last week but we move out again Friday so our address remained Camp San Luis Obispo till yesterday but then it changed to Camp Cooke, for that's where we'll be in a few days. During the next few days after Friday though we do without mail, and that will be rough, for we will be aboard a troop transport out in the Pacific on a 9 day cruise. After that we go back to Camp Cooke. Our amphibious training is really getting advanced now. We have 3 more landings to make. We make them on island and one will be under naval fire and also rocket fire. This is a swell camp although fairly small, only a few miles from Mexico and I think I'll try to go down there tomorrow. Have to close now, Sincerely "Bob" [Pvt. Robert J. Nicola]
