Memphis, June the 20 th, 64 Dear Father, Mother, brothers, sisters, relations, friends and Old Bob It is with heartfelt gratitude that I have the privelige of addressing you with a few lines to night I am well with the exceptions of a very bad cough I hope this may find you all well and doing the same I have nothing of any importance to write at present but I hope to soon We hear very flattering news from the East long may it continue until we hear of our American god holding forth in Richmond with the combined forces of Lee Beauregard & Ewell in our power Oh such a day as that will be when the news reaches us no tongue can describe the excitement of Company E
