Saving...
France Feb. 8, 1945 Dear Dave, I received your thirty fourth, thirty eighth, thirty ninth, fortieth, forty first and forty second drips since I last wrot you and was very glad too receive them. I'll admit I'm not doing so good in getting around to writing you. But I'm hoping I am forgiven. Perhapes its a good thing all of the fellows aren't like myself. It would really be tough not getting that Scuttlebutt. I'll try my best too do a little letter from here on out. I'm taking Army life a little easy now for a few days. Im in a Rest Camp at the present time. Its really a treat and a relief too get away from the guns for a while. We, I'm saying we because there is quite a number of us here, are quite a few miles away from the guns. Its quite a change from getting called at all times of the night to go out and fire a few rounds from the gun. And of course it quit here we don't hear guns going off or shells land or even bombers dropping there presents too the Germans. While here you aren't required to do anything. You can sleep all day if you wish. Its quite a treat to just walk down stares and eat your chow at a table with nice looking french girls bringing you the food on glass plates etc. I'm used too walking all the way from a half mile too a mile before each
