The soldier + civilian When the men are off to the fight, With all their utmost might, While the ladies are wearing [fation?] The men are eating the darn ration. They long for a lovely piece of tail, from whom they never get any mail, And never tast that good old ale, But keep on trucking down the trail. Where men fight there are no hours, where people work there are eight hours, some men are pushing up flowers, other people looking at the flowers. Where men should fear to tread, Other have beautiful skies overhead, Men have many a story to tell, Where many a brave man has fell.
