March 19, 1945 I Dear Dave, Doggon! Just recieved two more drips. Nos. 47 & 49. I'm going on pass tomorrow. I've been around here so long that I've become a regular mole. I always use the sub-way. Too lazy to walk. No fooling. As the G.I.'s say. I never had it so good. I'm thankful I have it. Some guys may resent it but it isn't my fault. Sometimes I even have a guilty conscience but I don't ever let it worry me too much. I've got a couple pretty badly banged up fingers. For some reason or other it has seemed to help my penmanship. I can almost read it myself. Hah! Boy was I glad to hear about Louie McFadden. I've known him since I was old enough to go to school. Guess he was one of the first guys I ever really knew.
