Saving...
[letterhead: U.S.S. Trenton] came up to me and said he had some hot chocolate and sandwiches in his emergency cabin, and for me to go in and help myself. I thanked him, but told him that there was no one else on the bridge to leave in charge. He said to me "I'll take over for you, go ahead and help yourself." Such an incident may sound commonplace to you, and perhaps it might be on small craft, or perhaps the entire incident may sound insignificant or petty from start to finish, but to me it was an incident which I shall never forget. He will most certainly find that such action is returned in kind. I have not seen many people from home, but I continuously look forward with the keenest anticipation to the days when I can walk along the street and say of everyone - "This is home." Don't let anyone interfere with your letter program, as it is no doubt appreciated by all who receive the results of your effort. Here's hoping everyone is fine, and that we can all get home again soon. Cordially yours, [in different handwriting: [Lt(jg.)] ] Gifford Morrison
