Mrs. F.E. Whitely Webster City, IA Aug 3, 1918 Dear Madame: Although you are a stranger to me, yet I take the liberty of writing you. You are an Iowa woman and so am I - and we are all sisters in this great work for our country. I saw the article in one of our papers "A Call for Iowa Women." Mrs. Whitely, I know absolutely nothing about the vocation of a nurse, in fact I am of very little good in a sick room - but may there be some other work to be done in connection with the Red Cross Work? I am not afraid of work.
