This is no "gas" I have been "getting off" but a veritable fact. I have nothing more to relate concerning these desperadoes. All will admit it is wrong and calculated to do our cause no good. It is a matter of indifference to them whether they fight for the North or South. Their mission is gain, and the people in this section will suffer considerably by them. There are a good many Union men here, but by these rascals all are treated alike. We left Palmyra day before yesterday, on the Hanibal & St. Jo R. R. It is a sad sight to see the damage done to the R. R. Co. all along the road. At Honeywell, a small town passed yesterday, every house in town is vacated and taken possession of by Federal troop under Col. Smith's Command
