Oct. 5, 1943 Tues. Night Dear Mother, Just finished a day full of classes, most very interesting. Tonight we walked along Pennsylvania Ave. & by the White House. We had to cross the street there, as no civilians are allowed to walk by the fence now. We've had no trouble eating or getting transportation. Not as bad as Milwaukee. Get tetanus shots Thurs. A.M. at Pentagon Bldg. Have uniform fitting at 2: Friday. I'm looking forward to Sunday's rest. Love, Helen
