[Oct. 20, 1943] Wednesday Dear Mother, I have a few minutes, so will follow up the card. I'm glad you sent the black & gold pumps, as they look so nice with that dress. I also think it would be a good idea to send the mink jacket check & I'll have them send it here. It is ideal weather for it but of course may change by the time it gets here. No, the Russell who was at Don's was another engineer who used to double date with us. I think I'll invite Helen & Don out for dinner if I can get hold of them. I've found eight or ten lovely places. It is a peculiar feeling to be on an expense account so that prices of meals don't mean much. We are allowed a top of $2.50 a day for meals & that is swell. Last night I ate with Peggy Cobb down at an English place called Tally Ho located in a courtyard & stable. Tonight Marie Devlin & I ate at a place called Robin Hood. I'm anxious to hear from Jo. I gave her a note to Fran.
