weeks or even months & would know I'd been cleared for overseas work. A person is "incommunicado" after clearance & may be at the embarkation port for some time without being able to send word to anyone. Then the Red Cross notifies you by telegram upon arrival overseas. I'll write more details about clearance, communication, etc. when I find out how I classify at the end of this Basic course. Last night we did finger-painting. It is fascinating, & I'll teach you when I get home. A job in crafts would be a lead pipe cinch after this course. I have only my tropic weight uniform & 3 blouses as yet. I'll have to wait till last week of orientation for the rest, I think. I take my second tetanus shot a week from Thursday. Peggy & I are going together & snoop around for a good eating place along the Potomac.
