[Nov. 15,1943] Monday night Dear Mother, I was distressed to get your card saying there was something perishable in the box of seeds, as I'm afraid it will just have to perish. (not a scolding!) My mail will not catch up with me for two weeks at least, unless it is sent directly to Lovell General Hosp., Fort Devons Mass. I guess you'd better not send anything extra from now on as my settled days are over. I'm not sure of being in Mass. for two weeks even, as I might be called back for clearance. I told my roommate to open the box & deal with the "perishable" if it came out here to school. You alarm me with your talk of seeds, as I fear I'll be swamped. I just wasted what was left in three or four packages, as I don't know whether they'll be used or wasted. I'm trying to take with me a small quantity of several different things just in case.
