Belgium Dec. 5, 1944 Dear Dave, I imagine there are weeks when some of you feel that the Scuttlebutt is quite a bit of trouble but as one G.I. let me say that I really appreciate the trouble that you are going to in order to help our morale. The Nov. issue was my second piece of mail that I've received since I landed. I received a letter from Lola day before yesterday. Dave, I've had some interesting experiences since I saw you in Sept. The ocean voyage was very interesting. Scotland was beautiful, clad in green grassy valleys with snow capped hills above. But to our regret I didn't get to stay there very much. I wish that I could tell you about our landing and trip to our present location but for the security of later arrivals I'd better remain silent. The people around here haven't been hurt by the war. The Germans treated them well, since most of them were German descent. And they resent our intrusion into their peaceful life. It seems strange to talk to someone who has a husband or son fighting against us. It's really tough going over here now. It's raining almost everyday and is pretty cold.
